KAZUMA KAWAMURA 1st photo book Etoile/EXILE TRIBE STATION limited cover edition
Kazuma Kawamura's book is his first in about 4 years since his photo essay "SINCERE" in 2020.
This work, which is his first photo book, was shot in Paris and northern Normandy, France.
Based on the theme of "Etoile" (French meaning [1: star, 2: flower shape, star]), which is also in the title, Kawamura's own "overwhelming star quality" is sprinkled throughout the photo book. I am.
A large-scale photo shoot in an old castle and museum in France!
This is the first time in Japan and overseas that we have been granted permission to shoot a photo book!
We took a large-scale photo shoot at a museum dedicated to Gustave Moreau, a painter who was born and raised in Paris and is a representative of 19th century symbolism, and at a castle built in the 19th century in northern France. This is the first time in Japan or overseas that permission has been granted to photograph both of them as a photo book.
■KAZUMA KAWAMURA comment
I have decided to create my first photobook, and I felt honored to have been asked to do so.
What I released in 2020 is a photo essay, so the concept and what I can convey will be different, so this time it will be my "1st" photo book, but I have already developed ideas from the time I received the offer. Ta.
I had thought of shooting in my hometown, Osaka, but I decided to take advantage of this rare opportunity and decided to shoot in a place that I didn't know and was excited about, in France, a place I had always wanted to go to. Ta. It was fun to shoot while feeling the streets of France, and it was an honor to be able to privately shoot at castles and museums for the first time in Japan and overseas, and I'm also grateful to the team that worked to make this possible.
The title was suggested by the production team, and while putting aside the question of "how am I doing right now?", I raised it as one of my guidelines for the future, and while motivating myself, I decided to create a title that was appropriate for the title. I chose the title ``Etoile'' to help me become a human being, to aim for myself, and also to incorporate my self-suggestive thoughts.
While you can enjoy a lot of relaxed and formal appearances in unexplored areas through photos, we have prepared many other mechanisms for you to enjoy, and in addition to the ones that have been decided at the moment, there are many more. I'm thinking of something I can do, so please look forward to it!
